Our Clinical Services
Consultation
An opportunity to meet the clinician in order to discuss your wishes, needs and goals. You will have time to ask questions about the practice and proposed treatments. At the end the two of you will decide whether there is capacity to work together toward a shared treatment goal. The consultation is held without charge and takes about one half hour.
The first few sessions typically involve a comprehensive evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, your doctor will be able to offer you some initial impressions of what treatment might include. At that point, you will both discuss your treatment goals and create an initial treatment plan. The treatment plan is likely to include a combination of psychotherapy and medication. You should evaluate this information and make your own assessment about whether you feel comfortable working with such a plan and with your psychiatrist.
Ongoing Care
Once treatment is underway, you will meet on a periodic basis, with intervals determined by the acuity of your condition, the need for ongoing supervision, changes in your treatment or your circumstances. Sessions can be as frequent as several times per week or spaced, week by week, month by month or every few months. When you both agree, care can be completed, with the doctor remaining available should the need arise later.
